Working Footwear?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

Some say running shoes, some say hiking boots . . . What's your opinion on the best footwear while working? I'm curious to see what you seasoned operators like wearing on the job.

(I know this seems dumb, but what the heck!)

I like to wear skate/bmx shoes while shooting. They have a nice wide platform and are quite comfy. I find hiking boots/shoes to be too klunky and heavy. I did a shoot at a water park and used rafting water shoes and they were great for those shots where I was wading in shallow pools with the rig.

I tried Nike, Reebok and I stick with Adidas basketball snikers for few years now. Definitlly the most comfortable shoes for me and they give me enough support for the anckles. The only prblem is that it's hard to find tham in black color!!

What about other outfit. Throuser, shirts,...???

I had asked the question about shirts and stuff on the Steadicam forum and got some good responses. I wanted to get a "show black" long sleeves shirt, and the brand recommended was Under Armour. So I went out and bought one of their shirts, and it was great. I wasn't too hot, and the shirt took the moisture away from my skin. At the end of the show, my black jeans were more damp than the shirt (no I didn't wet myself.)

Some of the other ops mentioned that they wear "yoga" pants when operating. This sounds like a comfortable option, but I didn't think it would appropriate for an awards show.

I like loose fitting pants and had my company shirts made in black. I go back and forrth between some black hiking boots and wide sole tennis shoes myself depending on what I am walking on.

Well, both are nice for different situations. Just like I bought so many Designer Leggings for myself, I am planning to add both these shoes to my cart. It is always nice to have both than one. Also, I have a certain love for shoes that I can’t stop buying them.
